Therapy doesn’t have to suck

My Approach

My approach is integrative, holistic, and research-based to provide you the best treatment science has to offer for deep healing and transformation. We can get a little “woo” too if you desire. I also interweave ADHD and executive coaching approaches so you can actually get shit done and deeply understand your strengths in your career.

Despite the seriousness and depth of our work, I hold the policy that work is serious play. I liberally use humor, creativity, and warmth to create a supportive space for you to learn new skills, re-discover your strengths, and foster resilience to overcome life’s struggles with confidence.

I don’t do cookie-cutter therapy, blindly follow a manual, or throw worksheets at you. Instead, I listen deeply to craft an individualized and efficient treatment plan with you for your specific needs and goals. I will follow-up on your progress on goals, intentions, or homework you set in session for accountability. I will also ask for your feedback on a routine basis to make sure you are getting exactly what you want out of therapy.

For hypnotherapy, IFS, or guided meditations in our sessions, I can provide you a professionally recorded MP3 for you to download.

I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink-aware, poly and ethical non-monogamy affirming, sex-worker allied, and take an anti-racist and health at every size (HAES) stance in our work together.

S.A.F.E. EMDR

Mindful Hypnotherapy

Are you ready to overcome overwhelm, banish burnout, & unlock your true potential?

“I know I should stop smoking, but I keep on doing it anyway.”

“I’ve been through so much talk therapy and still I’m stuck in my self-sabotaging ways.”

“I can name all my cognitive distortions, use my coping skills, but I still feel like shit.”

If you resonated with any of those statements, hypnosis may be the missing piece in the puzzle to finally feel at your best. And no, I won’t make you cluck like a chicken or bark like a dog.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a powerful science-backed treatment that is effective for a wide variety of symptoms and struggles. I use self-hypnosis everyday for my wellbeing (yes, I can teach you too).

In fact, you may be in a natural hypnotic trance now as you’re reading these words. Although my words are not as enthralling as Glennon Doyle’s or J.R.R. Tolkien’s stories, your attention is so focused on these words, that maybe everything else fades into the  background, so much so you may have not noticed the noises or distractions around you.

You’ve probably used your natural talent of daydreaming during a boring meeting or lecture, thinking about what you’d rather be doing instead. Or perhaps you’ve experienced highway hypnosis way too many times, completely missing your turn because you were so absorbed belting out the latest Billie Eilish tune.

Your body is here while your mind is elsewhere. This is hypnosis.

And we can use your creativity & natural talent to help you heal your body and mind.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis uses guided imagery, metaphors, stories, and even your body postures to create deep nervous system relaxation and laser-focused attention to achieve an elevated state of consciousness to unlock your unconscious. During this natural state, you are more open to positive suggestions to create positive changes and attain goals in your life. All you have to do is listen to my voice, breathe and be, and enjoy your inner adventure.

What Does Hypnosis Feel Like?

That feeling right after you had the best massage of your life, completely calm, comfortable and free, while also having the most enlightening epiphany. Many of my clients describe it as feeling similar to a guided mindfulness meditation but even more relaxing.

What is Hypnotherapy Used For?

Can I Combine Hypnotherapy with Other Therapies?

YES! At it’s core, hypnosis is an integrative mind-body medicine technique. My clients enjoy interweaving hypnotherapy with CBT, ACT, EMDR, and/or Internal Family Systems-informed work. In fact, research studies and metanalyses indicate that hypnosis amplifies treatment effects and helps positive changes last longer.

The Antidote to Anxiety is Action

ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY

Do you want to rediscover your strengths, maximize the richness of your life, and be a ninja navigating life’s sucker punches?

That what you get from ACT (which is pronounced as the word “act,” not the initials).

ACT is a powerful treatment that teaches you mindfulness skills to

deal with painful thoughts, feels, and shitty life events efficiently & effectively
clarify what is truly important to you (aka your values) so you feel less lost in life

How it helps?

ACT is a transdiagnostic therapy which simply means it is designed to alleviate human suffering in all shapes, forms, and DSM-5 diagnoses. Be present, open up, do what matters.

3 main skills you will learn

Defusion: letting go of unhelpful thoughts, stories, memories (thoughts are not facts)
Acceptance: making room for painful feelings, urges, sensations and allowing them to come and go without struggling
Committed action: engaging fully with your values and do what matters most in your life

Internal Family Systems Therapy

INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS (IFS)

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

Have you ever said, “a part of me wants to be lazy, but another part of me know I have to do work?” Or, “a part of me really doesn’t want to go to this dumb event, but another part of me knows I should.”  With IFS, we can discover many “parts” of our self that have different wants, needs, desires, and roles. And because of that, we can often experience inner conflict, self-criticism, or frustration with being torn in our decisions, actions, and feelings.

Internal Family Systems therapy is a non-pathologizing approach to therapy. It emphasizes the natural multiplicity of the mind and our various sub-personalities. The grounding assumption is that there are no bad parts, only parts forced into bad roles. When you learn how to access Self, the part of you filled with compassion and understanding, you can then heal your wounded parts. This brings the whole system into harmony and allows one to become more Self-led with less internal conflict. The natural side effect of this healing is a reduction in self-sabotaging behaviors or self-criticism.
